Constraints Perceived by Private Veterinary Practitioners of Tamil Nadu in the Field and Suggestions Offered by Experts

Background: Private Veterinary Practitioners (PVPs) are essential in doorstep veterinary treatment and the backbone of livestock services. During their clinical activities they also facing hindrances delivery service an effective manner. Under this background, current study was formulated with aim to know constraints perceived by PVPs Tamil Nadu. Methods: The conducted from January March, 2022 Through well-structured interview schedule data were collected one hundred private practitioners. analyzed ranked Weighed Mean Score (WMS) method. Animal husbandry experts’ suggestions sought overcome foremost interpreted percentage analysis. Result: constraint analysis revealed that local quacks WMS 86.67 followed absence efficient diagnostic-laboratory support (WMS 85.67), delayed report mastitis 83.67) self-medication owner and/or farmers 83.33) next important constraints. experts suggested following strategies constraints: conducting ration balancing awareness campaign (90.00%), regular refresher diagnostic laboratory management training programmes for field veterinarians (86.67) forming farmers’ interest groups (73.33%).
